Van Vuuren and Venter back for Cell C Sharks

Experienced forwards Kerron van Vuuren (hooker) and James Venter (flanker) are back in the Cell C Sharks’ starting team for their first match of the new season, against Tafel Lager Griquas in Durban on Sunday.

The two forwards are back from injury and will get some valuable game time in the 2021 Kick-Off Pools match against the men from the Northern Cape.

Cell C Sharks head coach Sean Everitt will use their four warm-up fixtures to add squad depth by affording all his players an opportunity to get valuable game time ahead of the Rainbow Cup.

Everitt has decided to give youngsters such as Grant Williams (scrumhalf) and Murray Koster (centre) a run, with Jeremy Ward named captain for this match as Lukhanyo Am is still easing back into action.

The Cell C Sharks also announced that they will use their four preparation fixtures to honour the frontline workers of our country on their match jerseys, as a gesture of their appreciation for their dedication to saving lives and fighting this pandemic, by featuring #FrontlineFighters on the back of their playing jerseys.

Sunday’s match at Jonsson Kings Park is kicks off at 17h15 and will be live on Supersport.
