The Vodacom Bulls emerged as the last remaining South African team in the EPCR Challenge Cup after booking their place in the quarter-final against Edinburgh following their Round of 16 victory against Bayonne in France, but the two other SA sides in the competition – the defending champions, Hollywoodbets Sharks, and the Emirates Lions – both crashed out.

Junior Springbok head coach Kevin Foote stressed the importance of continuity and consistency as the SA U20s their preparation for the season with a training match against the Vodacom Bulls U21 side in Stellenbosch on Saturday.

South Africa will end the league phase of the HSBC SVNS season in fourth place after a strong finish in Singapore on Sunday, where they won both their games but were unfortunately still placed ninth, and Springbok Sevens team head coach Philip Snyman bemoaned the lack of consistency.
