The home side dominated the first half completely, scoring five tries to none by the Isuzu Southern Kings, with two yellow cards by the visitors assisting the Warriors' cause. This dominance on attack saw the men from Glasgow enter the break 29-0 up.
The hosts added two tries and penalty try to their tally in the second half, while their effective defence denied the Isuzu Southern Kings from earning a single point for their efforts – despite spirited attempts at times.
Grant Stewart (hooker) earned the first points for the Glasgow Warriors in the 10th minute after some good forward play, and their consistent pressure up-front saw Matt Fagerson (No 8) touch down eight minutes later from a pick-and-go, with captain Callum Gibbins (flanker) adding their third try early in the second quarter from a strong drive following a lineout.
The Isuzu Southern Kings lost captain and No 8 Ruaan Lerm to a yellow card three minutes later for an illegal clean-out at a ruck, and this paved the way for Glasgow Warriors prop Oli Kebble to score their bonus-point try from a sharp pass at the back of a lineout.
Niko Matawalu (winger) scored the team’s fifth try in the 27th min from a fantastic chip-and-chase, which extended their lead to 29-0.
As if this was not enough for the Port Elizabeth side, Sibusiso Sithole (winger) also received a yellow card for a deliberate knock-down three minutes before halftime – although they managed to shut out the home side to enter halftime 29-0 down.
The Glasgow Warriors continued their forward dominance in the second half with prop Zander Fagerson crossing the tryline five minutes after play resumed from a powerful pick-and-go and they were awarded a penalty try from a solid scrum in the 64th minute.
They built on this momentum with replacement winger Ratu Tagive touching down in the 67th minute after gathering a long pass with an open tryline in front of him, and the successful conversion pushed their score to 50-0.
Both teams tried hard to break through the defence in the dying minutes of the match, but their attempts were shut down, which saw the hosts secure the rewarding victory.
