UPDATE: The teams returned to the field for a short warm-up around 16h00 and play resumed at 16h05.
Play was halted due to lightning protocols after 24 minutes of play at Loftus Versfeld, with the Vodacom Bulls leading 6-3 following two penalty goals by Morne Steyn and one from Curwin Bosch for the visitors from Durban.
Shortly after Steyn kicked his second penalty goal, referee Jaco Peyper ordered the players off the field with lightning within seven kilometers from the field.
Earlier, Bosch kicked his side into the lead with a third minute penalty goal, but Steyn missed his first attempt at goal a minute later, pushing his 40m effort to the right.
Bosch had the opportunity to extend the lead after 11 minutes, but his long-range effort went wide, after which Steyn responded with his first points of the match, this time landing a 40m penalty goal to level the scores.
The Cell C Sharks' flyhalf missed another long-range effort after 20 minutes, again pushing his effort to the right, before Steyn kicked his second to hand the home side the lead.
Before the match could restart, Peyper got the call from the match commissioner to halt proceedings.
