The South African side were beaten 21-10 by Australia A in the final of the tournament on Saturday after earlier wins over Japan Development (24-0) and Ireland Invitational (38-0) in the semi-final and quarter-final respectively.
"We came here to get some game time, get some systems in place and to prepare the squad for next weekend's HSBC Cape Town Sevens," Dazel said.
"I think we did a lot of good work in the week and to play in the final of the tournament was great for the squad. I think we took good strides towards next weekend."
The opening game against the Irish was one way traffic, but the squad suffered some misfortune against Japan, with playmaker Eloise Webb forced off the field after a knock to the head. This resulted in her being ruled out of next weekend's showpiece in Cape Town.
"Yes, we'll miss Eloise, as she was in very good form," said Dazel.
"We understand how we want to implement our game plan, but that would be the only negative from this week for me. We'll have to nurse some niggles in Cape Town, but I have no doubt the squad will be competitive.
"I asked for effort and application from the players and credit to all of them, I got that. So, from a coaching point of view, I'm incredibly pleased. We've definitely grown as a squad and that was the main objective of the trip."
The squad will return to South Africa on Sunday and Dazel will name his tournament squad for the HSBC Cape Town Sevens early next week.
