The semi-final is scheduled for 10h16 on Sunday. The other top-four playoff is between Belgium - last weekend's runners up - and China at 09h54.

In their first game of the day, Nadine Roos scored four first-half tries as South Africa started the day with an emphatic 38-0 victory over Thailand on Saturday morning.

While Roos was in superb form - building on her performances from Friday and adding another try in the second half - it has to be said the South Africans played very well as a unit. They were slick on attack and defended superbly.

Roos scored her first try, set up by a strong run by Sizophila Solontsi, after 30 seconds, and two minutes later, she made is 12-0 by stepping the Thai defence.

Tries number three and four followed later in the first half, and Roos converted both to see South Africa take a 26-0 lead into the break.

Libbie Janse van Rensburg scored the fifth try a minute after the restart, with Roos adding the extras, before the playmaker finished her fifth try with two minutes left in the match.

Roos started the quarter-final against Colombia where she left off with an early try, the first of five tries that led to a 31-0 win.

The host nation were strong in the scrums and two good runs by Ayanda Malinga set up first-half tries for Roos and Simamkele Namba, one of which was converted to put South Africa ahead by 12-0 at the break.

They cut loose in the second half as Eloise Webb added her name to the score sheet with a brilliant try from the restart.

Malinga, who didn't play against Thailand, then scored a try that underlined her knack of finding the line, and right at the end Janse van Rensburg crossed for her second five-pointer of the day.

Roos converting three of the five tries which increased her points' tally for the tournament to 67.
