The Boks delivered an impressive performance against Wales at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Saturday, outscoring the hosts by eight tries to one for a comprehensive 52-16 victory.

They will wrap up their warm-up matches on Friday against the All Blacks at Twickenham before travelling to Corsica for a week-long training camp. Thereafter, the Boks will make their way to Toulon where they will be based for their Rugby World Cup opener against Scotland on Sunday, 10 September.

“I think we can take a lot of confidence from this game,” said Moodie, who scored two tries and was named the Player of the Match afterwards.

“Putting up a record score against Wales at home isn’t something that happens often. It shows that our plans are working and that the guys are ready for what lies ahead mentally and physically.

“That said, there are a few things we can touch up on and we have one more game to do it before the World Cup.”

Nche, who played in his first Test of the year after recovering from injury, was also humble in his assessment of the match.

“It was a good result for us, and we got to execute what we wanted to,” he said. “They fielded a pretty young squad, but they played well, and the ball just happened to bounce in our favour.”

Commenting on the scrums, which proved to be a good attacking weapon for the Boks, Nche said: “We did good analysis on it in the week, and it was our plan to try to use it as a foundation to play from in the game. It’s one of our big pillars and we put a lot of work into it, so it’s good to see things going our way.”

The powerful prop was delighted to be back on the field after several weeks on the sidelines due to a pectoral muscle injury and said it felt good to don the green and gold again: “I can take a lot of confidence from that (performance). It was hot out there, so my legs are still feeling a bit heavy, but it was good to be back and represent the country.”

The Boks travelled to London on Sunday to begin their preparations for their next encounter against New Zealand and Nche said it was important for the players to manage themselves as well as possible with a short turnaround to Friday’s match.
