World Rugby on Tuesday announced the next group of 25 women that will join the programme as part of their women’s strategic plan. This programme is a key part of that plan and continues to play a crucial role in successfully accelerating women leaders in rugby and ensuring women are represented at all levels and in all aspects of the game.
Mangcu was appointed as SA Rugby's HR Manager in 2009 and was later promoted to head up the department in her current role as General Manager.
Mr Alexander congratulated Mangcu on being chosen for the course and said she will represent SA Rugby well.
“Ingrid has been a stalwart in our administration at SARU House and has a well-rounded appreciation of what the demands of the modern game are,” said Mr Alexander.
“This opportunity will add to that experience and that will benefit everyone at SA Rugby, in particular the women's game, already identified by us as a core value for expansion.”
One of the aims of the programme is to create a growing global network of female leaders and role models across the sport on the road to Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025. A total of 98 eight women have completed the programme since 2018.
The 25 scholars on the programme will be granted access to the best learning programmes from the Capgemini University. They will also be paired with a mentor assigned by World Rugby as well as a Capgemini coach, and eligible to apply for an additional discretionary grant of up to £5,000 to help aid their development and learning.
