The Capetonians played with greater cohesion to hand Border their only defeat of the week, while the Bulls were made to work hard for their 5-0 win over a gritty Sharks outfit.
Earlier in the day there were also wins for SWD, Valke, Limpopo Blue Bulls and the Golden Lions.
SWD recorded a a hard-fought 22-17 win over Free State; the Valke had too much class for Griquas in their 33-7 victory; Limpopo pulled away from Sanlam Boland in the second half to finish on a winning note, by 29-12; and the host team, the Lions, outplayed EP 39-19 in one of the two early morning fixtures.
As a result of their third win, WP ended top of the standings on 15 points, with the Blue Bulls two points adrift. Border, Golden Lions and SWD all finished on 10 points, followed by the Valke (nine points) and Sharks (six).
EP, Free State and Limpopo managed to earn five points each, while Boland and Griquas failed to collect any points from their three matches.
A Junior Springbok Women’s team will be announced shortly for the four-team R10 African U20 Women’s Series, where they will be up against U20 teams from Uganda, Tunisia and the San Clemente Rhinos.
