Matfield - a RWC winner in 2007 who captained the Vodacom Bulls to three Vodacom Super Rugby titles - is the guest on the latest SA Rugby Podcast, and apart from looking back at some great moments during his illustrious career, the towering lock also reckons the Boks will be better placed for next year’s series against the British & Irish Lions than was the case in 2009.
As a father of three daughters, he knows all about getting his hair done, tea parties and make-up, but Matfield - who was also a member of the Bok squad that won the Castle Lager Rugby Championship in 2004 and 2009, and the side that defeated the British & Irish Lions in 2009 - also thinks the South African lock pantry is chock-full of talent, while he also lifts the lid on the most exciting backline player he’s seen in action this year.
