About
In 2025, the Isuzu Bulls Daisies successfully defended their Women's Premier Division title with a third consecutive victory in the final over DHL Western Province in Pretoria. In 2026, the competition has been rebranded as the Pick 'n Pay Women's Super League 1, with the Tier 1 partner coming on board as title sponsor of this exciting series. In 2022 and 2021, the Border Ladies were crowned champions, also after finals victories over DHL WP, the only team to beat the Daisies in the last three seasons. The other teams in the competition are the Golden Lions Women, EP Queens, Sanlam Boland Dames, Sharks Women and the Free State Women.
The history
A revamped Women's Premier Division - from 2026 called the Pick 'n Pay Women's Super League 1 - returned to the SA Rugby provincial tournament schedule in 2021. Provincial teams from Boland, Border, the Bulls, Eastern Province, Free State, the Sharks and Western Province featured in a jam-packed competition over a double round of action, culminating in the final between WP and Border in Cape Town, where the team from East London won back the title for the first time in five years. Western Province won the title in 2019, while no competition took part in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic.
